EL AYUNTAMIENTO Y LA FARD DEVELIZARON DOS ESTATUAS Y UN TANQUE DE GUERRA EN EL NUEVO PASEO DE LA HISTORIA DE SANTO DOMINGO ESTE
El alcalde Manuel Jiménez y representantes del alto mando de las Fuerzas Armadas de República Dominicana develizaron este domingo una composición monumental dedicada al coronel Rafael Tomás Fernández Domínguez, en el Paseo de la Historia que el Ayuntamiento de Santo Domingo Este construye en la avenida dedicada al héroe nacional.
En un acto solemne celebrado en víspera del natalicio de Fernández Domínguez, el alcalde Manuel Jiménez y el comandante general de la Fuerza Aérea, mayor general Carlos Ramón Febrillet Rodríguez, encabezaron el develizamiento de una estatua monumental dedicada a la figura del coronel histórico; un tanque de guerra similar al utilizado en la operación militar para reponer a los integrantes del Consejo de Estado en 1962; y la estatua de un niño siguiendo el ejemplo del denominado “Soldado Democrático”.
La composición museológica se encuentra en el punto de inicio de la avenida que desde el 2010 lleva el nombre del líder del movimiento de militares constitucionalistas, y es el resultado de una colaboración institucional coordinada por la vicealcaldesa Ángela Henríquez y el subcomandante de la FARD, general de brigada Mauricio Ludovino Fernández.
“Estamos colocando a la vista de todos nuestros munícipes los mejores ejemplos de la historia nacional, como el coronel Fernández Domínguez. La ciudad que estamos construyendo es una ciudad con identidad, con memoria, y vinculada a los mejores valores de la Patria. Vengan con su familia a este hermoso y simbólico lugar”, dijo el alcalde Manuel Jiménez ante un público conformado por la alta oficialidad de la Fuerza Aérea, representantes del Ministerio de Defensa, líderes comunitarios, regidores, funcionarios locales y vecinos de los sectores cercanos al Paseo de la Historia.
El evento contó con el apoyo y la participación del presidente de la Comisión Permanente de Efemérides Patrias, Juan Pablo Uribe y el dirigente político y comandante de la Revolución de Abril de 1965, Rafael Fafa Taveras;
Por las Fuerzas Armadas asistieron el mayor general piloto Leonel Muñoz Noboa, viceministro para Asuntos Aéreos y Espaciales del Ministerio de Defensa; el vicealmirante Agustín Morillo Rodríguez, comandante general de la Armada; el general Eddy Pérez Peralta, en representación del Director de la Policía Nacional, entre otros.
El Paseo de la Historia de Santo Domingo Este se ubica en la isleta central del punto de inicio de la avenida Rafael Tomás Fernández Domínguez, donde esta vía confluye con la avenida Ecológica Profesor Juan Bosch y el inicio la 25 de Febrero. Hasta ahora acoge monumentos y obras dedicados a José Francisco Peña Gómez, Omar Torrijos, Juan Bosch y Fernández Domínguez. En las próximas semanas se realizarán otras inauguraciones de igual magnitud.
