Análisis coloca a República Dominicana como el tercer país de América Latina con mayor incremento en sus precios

República Dominicana es uno de los países de América Latina que registró la mayor inflación interanual en junio de este 2021, según un análisis del Centro Regional de Estrategias Económicas Sostenibles (CREES) publicado el 22 de este mes.

 

De acuerdo al estudio, elaborado con datos de la Organización para la Cooperación y el Desarrollo Económicos (OCDE) y los bancos centrales o centros de estadísticas oficiales, el país se coloca solo detrás de Venezuela, donde la inflación en el referido mes se estimó en 2,615.5%, y Argentina, donde se ubicó en 50.2%.

 

“En junio de 2021, la inflación interanual, es decir, la variación del Índice del Precios al Consumidor (IPC) con respecto a junio de 2020 en República Dominicana fue de 9.3%, ubicándose como el tercer país en la región con mayor incremento es sus precios”, indica el análisis.

 

A República Dominicana le siguen Brasil, Uruguay, México, Honduras, Paraguay, Guatemala, Chile, Colombia, Perú, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panamá y Bolivia. Esos dos últimos fueron los países con menores incrementos en sus precios, con un 0.2% y 1.6%, respectivamente;

 

Ecuador fue el único país que tuvo una variación negativa, al registrar una inflación de -0.7%.

 

“La inflación es un fenómeno de origen monetario, y como tal refleja los aumentos en los agregados monetarios. Como se ha mencionado anteriormente, como resultado las políticas de estímulos artificiales adoptadas por los estados del mundo para hacerle frente a la pandemia de COVID-19, diferentes economías, de países desarrollados como emergentes, están evidenciando mayores incrementos en sus precios que los que se producían antes de la pandemia”, explica el estudio.

 

Informe del Banco Central

 

El último Informe índice de precios al consumidor (IPC) del Banco Central (BCRD) establece que en junio pasado la inflación interanual registró una significativa reducción, al pasar de 10.48% en mayo a 9.32%. El organismo destaca que ese resultado constituye un punto de inflexión hacia la baja.

 

El documento explica que la dinámica inflacionaria de los últimos meses no obedece a razones monetarias ni fiscales, sino a altas presiones inflacionarias de origen externo, producto del alza de los precios de los commodities y materias primas que forman parte de los insumos en la cadena de producción, así como de los fletes y seguros marítimos por la escasez de contenedores en los puertos de procedencia.

 

El informe, correspondiente a junio, señala además que últimamente se ha observado una reducción en los precios internacionales del trigo, la soya, y el maíz, que son importantes insumos para la producción agrícola, así como de la madera y otros bienes importados demandados por el sector construcción, por los que se espera que pronto la inflación comience a moderarse.

 

Los niveles de inflación registrados en el país este año obligaron al Gobierno a intervenir e implementar una serie de medidas para controlar el alza de precios.
