El expresidente de la República, Danilo Medina, informó esta noche que padece cáncer de próstata y que le fue diagnosticado en los Estados Unidos.
El expresidente regresó esta tarde desde Miami, Estados Unidos, donde ha estado siendo tratado por la enfermedad
Medina dijo que el cáncer es curable y que tendrá que viajar a Estados Unidos para continuar el tratamiento.
Sus tuits publicados dicen lo siguiente:
«Quiero agradecer a todas las personas, compañeros y amigos que se han interesado por mi estado de salud en estas últimas semanas y me dirijo al país en esta ocasión para informarles que he sido diagnosticado con cáncer de próstata.
Desde enero me he sometido a diferentes pruebas para determinar este diagnóstico. Tras realizar un tratamiento en el país que no arrojó los resultados esperados y por recomendación de mis médicos habituales, realicé posteriormente dos viajes a Estados Unidos.
El primer viaje fue para la realización de una biopsia y el segundo para un estudio de extensión, que permitirá determinar el tipo de tratamiento más adecuado
