La Cámara de Diputados aprobó este miércoles un préstamo por US$80 millones para el financiamiento del proyecto de “agricultura resiliente y gestión integrada de recursos hídricos”.

El contrato, firmado entre el país y el Banco Internacional de Reconstrucción y Fomento (BIRF), fue suscrito el 28 de enero del pasado año 2020 y los fondos serán implementados por el Instituto Nacional de Recursos Hidráulicos (Indrhi).

En la carta de motivación enviada por el Poder Ejecutivo al Congreso, el presidente Luis Abinader indicó que el objetivo de ese préstamo es contribuir al mejoramiento sostenible de la administración del paisaje y acceso al suministro de agua y servicios sanitario en cuencas hidrográficas específicas.

El préstamo tendrá una tasa de interés estimada de 1.58% y será amortizado por República Dominicana mediante 42 cuotas semestrales, consecutivas y exigibles.

Mientras que la primera cuota se pagará el 15 de enero de 2027 y la última el 15 de julio de 2047, con un período de gracia de ocho años.

El préstamo tuvo 80 votos a favor y 64 en contra, votando los legisladores del Partido de la Liberación Dominicana (PLD) y la Fuerza del Pueblo de forma desfavorable.
