¡Que golpe! El país perdería RD$2,200 millones por vacunas vencidas

El anuncio de que a finales del próximo mes caducarán cerca de tres millones de vacunas anticovid, fabricadas por la empresa farmacéutica Pfizer, marcó la tercera ocasión que esto ocurre, aunque nunca con un lote tan grande.

Por tal razón, el Ministerio de Salud Pública ha hecho un llamado a la población para que complete el esquema de inmunización de cuatro dosis antes del 31 de julio, fecha en que se vencerán las vacunas.

Ya el país ha perdido al menos 708,480 de dosis, casi todas de la compañía AstraZeneca, de acuerdo con las informaciones que han compartido las autoridades sobre el tema.

Debido a que el contrato firmado con la referida empresa estipula un precio de cuatro dólares por dosis, y tomando en cuenta la tasa de cambio del dólar cuando el contrato fue aprobado en el Congreso Nacional (RD$58.3956), y entró en vigencia, estas vacunas perdidas le costaron al Estado dominicano alrededor de RD$165,488,458.

Sin embargo, las condiciones del acuerdo con Pfizer fueron distintas, ya que cada dosis fue valuada en unos 12 dólares, así que esta pérdida, en caso de que sea en su totalidad, podría sobrepasar por mucho los dos mil millones de pesos, al utilizar la tasa anunciada el día que el contrato inició, el 18 de mayo del año pasado.

En total, si efectivamente se llegaran a perder tres millones de vacunas, el Gobierno dominicano habría invertido unos RD$2,219,396,458 en dosis que no fueron aplicadas ni donadas.

Los vacunados
De acuerdo con datos ofrecidos por el Programa Nacional de Vacunación, han sido administradas casi 15.7 millones de dosis, de las que 7.2 millones corresponden a la primera dosis, 5.9 millones a la segunda y 2.3 millones han sido dosis de refuerzo.

Cambios
A principios de mes el Gobierno sometió una nueva adenda al contrato con Pfizer para cambiar 1.2 millones de dosis de adultos que están pendientes a dosis de niños, entre los 5 y 12 años.

También contempla una reducción en 3,870 dosis con respecto a lo previamente acordado, por lo que de 1,299,870 dosis pendientes, se bajaría a 1,296,000 dosis de vacuna pediátrica.
