Recuerdo como ahora   ese   jueves en la noche de diciembre del 2001, que  Manuel  Jiménez  estaba  en la sala de mi casa  diseñando la estrategia de campaña enero – mayo del 2002 con Daneris, Winston, Colon,  Víctor Ramírez, Ramon de Los Santos  Jacqueline Guilamo  y quien escribe.

Llegó  un vecino presidente de CB, quien interrumpió la reunión con palabras en contra de Luis Marte, que era el otro aspirante a diputado del PLD

Manuel Jiménez en tono molesto le dijo ´´ no es correcto que usted venga aquí a difamar a un compañero honesto, trabajador y  que lo ha dado todo por esta organización como el fraterno hermano de lucha  Luis Marte´´

La narrativa de la campaña para diputado fue decirles a todos los morados que Manuel era más conocido afuera y por tal razón los peledistas debían verlo como el candidato ancla que podía darle dos diputados al PLD.

Jiménez combina su capacidad de ganar amigos con la rebeldía en contra de la injusticia sociales. El mismo hombre que puede interpretar una canción de amor apasionado como Derroche, es el mismo que tomar una guitarra para protestar contra los que desean apropiarse de la Loma Miranda.

El hombre que ha dedicado su vida a causas sociales para que cada dominicano tenga las tres calientes   en la mesa, es el mismo que es capaz de someter su cuerpo a un largo ayuno cuando entiende que la voluntad del municipio se ha vulnerado.

Hoy Manuel arriba a un nuevo año de vida, dirigiendo la alcaldía de Santo Domingo Este junto a un partido que ama con devoción la división y  adora ser parte de la oposición.

Manuel Jiménez es un alcalde con luces y sombras.

Las principales sombras son, que aún no ha resuelto el problema de la basura y que su partido no sabe por qué ganaron.

Las luces son la honestidad que todos reconocen, que la comunidad ve que  trabaja sin descanso y su decisión de convertir a Santo Domingo Este en una ciudad referente en limpieza y organización.

Hoy cumpleaños en un momento que no es el mejor de su carrera política, pero posiblemente es el punto de partida para enderezar el timón  y tomar la ruta que lo lleve a la Ciudad Justa  Creativa que los munícipes de Santo Domingo Este esperan.

Hoy 15 de Octubre es el momento más oportuno para expresarle a mi amigo Manuel nuestro  deseo de Salud, Paz, Amor, Éxitos, Prosperidad y Larga Vida.
