Organización Mundial de Boxeo y Ayuntamiento reinauguran gimnasio Ramón Pina Acevedo en Santo Domingo Este
EL GIMNASIO QUEDA EQUIPADO CON TODA LA UTILERÍA NECESARIA PARA EL USO DE LOS NIÑOS Y JÓVENES DE ALMA ROSA Y ZONAS ALEDAÑAS
La Organización Mundial de Boxeo (OMB) y el alcalde de Santo Domingo Este, Manuel Jiménez, entregaron este jueves totalmente remozado y listo para su uso el Club-Gimnasio de Boxeo Doctor Ramón Pina Acevedo.
El espacio deportivo, ubicado en la calle Presidente Vásquez, esquina Francisco de Asís, en Alma Rosa, acoge a cientos de niños que de inmediato tendrán acceso a un ring completamente nuevo, gradas, baños y todos los útiles deportivos que se requieren para practicar la disciplina.
Junto al alcalde Manuel Jiménez presidieron la ceremonia Francisco Valcárcel (Paco), presidente de la Organización Mundial de Boxeo; Georgie Herrera, representante local de la entidad; el viceministro Alberto Rodríguez; el comisionado nacional de boxeo, Ramón Antonio Valdez; el director de Deportes de la Alcaldía, Roberto Neris; el director de Ingeniería y Obras, Héctor Garibaldi; el empresario Luis Ortiz y José Liz Reyes diputado del Parlacen entre otras personalidades.
Además, participaron la hija del doctor Pina Acevedo, Ozema Pina; el ex campeón Julio César Green y otras figuras del deporte local y nacional.
El alcalde Manuel Jiménez destacó las cualidades del doctor Pina Acevedo, quien no solo fue un gran promotor del deporte en el ámbito local, sino también internacional.
“Pina Acevedo es un dominicano que merece un reconocimiento eterno de cada uno de los que lo conocimos en vida, por los aportes que hizo a la sociedad dominicana desde las más altas cumbres”, apuntó Jiménez.
Jiménez dijo que desde la Alcaldía se continúa trabajando para desarrollar el deporte local, y que los jóvenes encuentren un espacio a dónde ir a practicar una disciplina y puedan desarrollarla.

El presidente de la OMB, Francisco Valcárcel y el representante local, Georgi Herrera, coincidieron en destacar el apoyo del Ayuntamiento para cumplir con los tiempos de intervención del gimnasio.
Explicaron que el gimnasio, además de favorecer a la juventud del municipio, honra la memoria del Doctor Ramón Pina Acevedo, presidente de la OMB y representante local por muchos años.
Por la experiencia y la relación construida con la gestión del alcalde Manuel Jiménez, la OMB se prepara para intervenir o apoyar otros gimnasios de boxeo en Santo Domingo Este.
