UE reconoce a Miriam Germán con el Premio Europeo de los Derechos Humanos
En la segunda edición del Premio Europeo de los Derechos Humanos en la República Dominicana, la Unión Europea y sus Estados Miembros reconocieron a la procuradora general de la República, Miriam Germán Brito por su trayectoria profesional dedicada a garantizar la justicia, y la democracia dominicana y su infatigable lucha contra la corrupción.
Katja Afheldt, embajadora de la Unión Europea dijo que están comprometidos con la promoción y protección de los derechos humanos, la democracia y el Estado de Derecho en Europa y en el resto del mundo, razón por la cual rindieron el reconocimiento a Germán Brito.
Manifestó que, con el premio, los embajadores europeos han querido enviar un mensaje inequívoco acerca de la importancia de la lucha contra la impunidad, y la igualdad de todos los ciudadanos ante la ley.
Sostuvo que esos elementos son básicos a la hora de cimentar la confianza de los ciudadanos en las instituciones públicas y en un sistema judicial robusto y equitativo y que también son elementos que contribuyen a la estabilidad política y social, asegurándose que los escasos fondos públicos se emplean de manera eficiente. Además, contribuyen a crear un clima de negocios favorable y son claves para lograr un crecimiento económico inclusivo y para atraer inversión al país.
