Asistente personal de Pablo Neruda afirma fue asesinado por régimen de Pinochet
La familia del poeta y político chileno Pablo Neruda, que falleció en el año 1973 como consecuencia supuestamente de un cáncer de próstata avanzado, ha afirmado este lunes que fue envenenado por «agentes del Estado» de Chile.
Según ha explicado Rodolfo Reyes, abogado y sobrino del escritor, se encontró en el año 2017 en la osamenta de Neruda una «gran cantidad de ‘clostridium botulinum'», una bacteria patógena capaz de provocar el botulismo, una enfermedad causada por una toxina que ataca los nervios del cuerpo.
«Eso nunca debió de haber estado en la osamenta, en el cuerpo de Neruda, y eso fue inyectado. Entonces, como abogado, me hace decir que a Neruda lo eliminaron en Chile. ¿Quién? No lo sabemos todavía. Eso se va a saber, y por supuesto que tuvo que ser agentes del Estado», ha asegurado Reyes en declaraciones a la Cadena Ser, recogidas por Europa Press, en las que ha recordado que el poeta era un líder de opinión en 1973 y «era un peligro público para» el dictador Pinochet.
El escritor chileno, que entonces formaba parte del Comité Central del Partido Comunista, murió el 23 de septiembre de 1973, dos semanas después del golpe de Estado que derrocó al presidente socialista Salvador Allende.
Manuel Araya, el chófer y asistente personal de Pablo Neruda ha desmentido en reiteradas ocasiones la versión de que el motivo de su fallecimiento se debió a un cáncer y ha asegurado que fue «asesinado» por el régimen de Pinochet (1973-1990).
Un grupo de forenses ya señaló en 2017 que el premio Nobel de Literatura no falleció de cáncer, tal y como se informó inicialmente, lo que abre la posibilidad a otras hipótesis.
