Santo Domingo, RD. La vicepresidenta de la República, Raquel Peña, anunció esta tarde que el Gobierno dominicano aplicará una tercera dosis de la vacuna contra el nuevo coronavirus a toda la población dominicana.

Raquel Peña dijo que la decisión de vacunar por tercera vez a la población se tomó en una reunión del Gabinete de Salud, que ella coordina, con el presidente Luis Abinader.

La vicepresidenta del país dijo que la tercera dosis de refuerzo de vacuna del Covid-19 será aplicada minimo al mes de haberse puesto la segunda dosis la persona y deberá ser diferente a las distintas ya recibidas.

Raquel Peña dijo que la decisión se tomó dada la situacion mundial del comportamiento del Covid-19, y tomando como una medida «para protegernos de la enfermedad»

Dijo que la idea era garantizar más cobertura y más protección a la población dominicana.

República Dominicana ha aplicado 7 millones de dosis de vacunas contra el nuevo coronavirus. República Dominicana ha recibido 11.5 millones de vacunas en la presente lucha contra la enfermedad.

Los contratos

En total son 10,768,000 dosis que han llegado de la compañía china Sinovac, en múltiples envíos, siendo el primero el de 23 de febrero de este año.

El país pactó un contrato valorizado en US$119,999,880 con la farmacéutica Pfizer, por 9,999,990 dosis, de las cuales han llegado 436,410.

Este monto fue logrado tras el envío de dos lotes, ambos en el presente mes.

El primer cargamento fue de 228,150 dosis, recibido por representantes gubernamentales el pasado viernes 11 de junio, mientras que el segundo fue 208,260, que aterrizó una semana después.
