Antes de presentar las palabras textuales del laureado escritor dominicano, radicado en la ciudad de Miami y director del Salón del Libro Dominicano, José Carvajal, es importante contextualizar su opinión respecto a la decisión de la Ministra de Cultura que destituyó al director de espectáculos por otorgar un carné de locutora a la comunicadora Amelia Alcántara. En su declaración a través de la red social Facebook, Carvajal critica enérgicamente la acción ministerial, enfatizando que restringir el lenguaje no debería ser parte del rol de la Ministra, y que ello podría amenazar la libertad de expresión fundamental en una democracia. CUIDADO, MINISTRA, PROHIBIR NO ES SU TRABAJO
JOSÉ CARVAJAL: este tipo de acción de la Ministra de Cultura (RD) pone en peligro la libertad de expresión en un sistema democrático que costó mucha sangre al pueblo dominicano. No hay lenguaje vulgar entre los vulgares; es su manera de comunicarse en su diario vivir, y eso también es parte de los niveles de cultura de los pueblos. Los medios de comunicación se deben a su audiencia, y si su audiencia es «vulgar», también lo será el medio, según lo que se entienda en ese sentido. No se puede permitir que un nivel que se considere más alto, y que opera desde el poder, aplaste a uno que crea más bajo. La Ministra no está para prohibir lenguaje; todo lo contrario: le haría un favor a la nación si su Ministerio patrocinara un proyecto de diccionario que registre las palabras que ella y sus colaboradores consideran vulgares en el habla del dominicano, a ver a cuántas páginas llegamos.
Una solución sería que los programas «vulgares» se limiten a un horario. Por ejemplo, de 11 de la noche a 7 de la mañana, como hacen en Estados Unidos con programas «censurables», en los que incluyen hasta la pornografía. Dando esa oportunidad no se viola el sistema democrático.
El Diccionario de la Real Academia de la Lengua Española define la palabra VULGAR de la siguiente manera: «Que es IMPROPIO DE PERSONAS CULTAS O EDUCADAS». Entonces, ¿se puede prohibir el lenguaje que escucha (y habla) la mayoría del pueblo dominicano?
