Hana Horká anhelaba asistir a actividades culturales, restringidas en su país para ciudadanos vacunados, pero quería evitar como fuera la vacuna contra la covid-19.

La cantante de folk checa, de 57 años, murió el pasado domingo después de contraer deliberadamente el virus en su afán por evitar la vacunación, según le dijo su hijo Jan Rek a la BBC.

Rek y su padre, ambos vacunados, se infectaron con covid durante la Navidad. Y ella, en lugar de mantenerse alejada, estrechó intencionadamente el contacto con ellos.

“Debería haberse aislado durante una semana porque mi padre y yo dimos positivo. Pero estuvo con nosotros todo el tiempo”, dijo Rek.

Dos días antes de su muerte ella había publicado en su cuenta de Facebook un post en el que compartió que portaba el virus.

El texto estaba adornado con algunos emoticones de animales, caras sonrientes y soles, lo que da a entender que la mujer creía que su covid sería una anécdota más que una tragedia.

“Sobreviví a delta”, escribió, describiendo la experiencia como “colorida”. Posteriormente, hizo una corta lista de cosas que podría hacer sin tener que conseguir un carnet de vacunación, un requisito actualmente en su país.

“Habrá teatro, sauna, concierto y un viaje urgente al mar”, expresó Horká.

El domingo por la mañana, el día de su muerte, la cantante dijo que se sentía mejor y se vistió para salir a caminar. Pero luego le empezó a doler la espalda, así que fue a acostarse a su dormitorio.

“En unos 10 minutos todo había terminado”, reveló su hijo. “Se ahogó hasta morir“.

Aunque no estaba vacunada, Jan Rek enfatizó que su madre no creía en algunas de las teorías de conspiración sobre las vacunas contra el covid.

“Su filosofía era que estaba más de acuerdo con la idea de contraer covid que vacunarse. No creía en eso de que nos pusieran un microchip ni nada por el estilo”, añadió.

Tras conocerse la muerte de la cantate, Rek reaccionó con furia e indignación contra algunas personalidades antivacunas checas en sus redes sociales, culpándolos de la muerte de su madre.

“Es triste que mi mamá confiara más en extraños que en su propia familia”, enfatizó.

Apoyo de los antivacunas

La actitud de la cantante fue apoyada por muchos de sus seguidores y amigos, quienes expresaron la esperanza de que ellos también se infectaran con el coronavirus.

Como señaló a la BBC, Rek está convencido de que representantes del movimiento antivacunas checo, como el actor Jaroslav Dušek y la bióloga Soňa Peková, cuyas afirmaciones compartió su madre con elocuencia a través de las redes sociales, son en parte culpables de su muerte.

Cuando hizo pública la noticia de la muerte de su madre en Facebook, acusó abiertamente a estas personas de “tener las manos manchadas de sangre”.

Con su mensaje, Rek espera que compartir su propia experiencia personal con la muerte sin sentido de su madre pueda alertar sobre la importancia de vacunarse contra el virus.

Cifras publicadas por Radio Prague International indican que en República Checa el 63% de la población está completamente vacunado contra el coronavirus, un porcentaje considerablemente menor del promedio de la Unión Europea, que supera el 80%.
