Alcalde Manuel Jiménez anuncia nuevo sistema de luces para el Faro a Colón
EN EL MONUMENTO TAMBIÉN HABRÁ UNA SALA DOMINICANA Y SE LEVANTARÁ CON UN BUSTO DEL PATRICIO JUAN PABLO DUARTE
Santo Domingo Este.- El Ayuntamiento de Santo Domingo Este (ASDE) informó que el legendario monumento el Faro a Colón volverá a contar con sus emblemáticas luces que hacían de ese espacio un atractivo para sus visitantes.
La luces son donadas por la Compañía Sectac Latin America, las cuales son fabricadas por la compañía alemana Siteco, en el marco de acuerdos del Ayuntamiento con el Ministerio de Cultura y el Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo (PNUD).
El anuncio fue hecho por el alcalde Manuel Jiménez, durante un acto conmemorativo al mes de la patria realizado en la explanada frontal del referido monumento, donde participaron, además, Eliezer Nolasco, gobernador del Faro a Colón, Juan Pablo Uribe, presidente de la Comisión de Efemérides Patrias y la gobernadora de la provincia Santo Domingo, Julia Grullard.
Además de iluminar todo el entorno, en el monumento también habrá un espacio dominicano, contará con un busto del patricio Juan Pablo Duarte y una obra con la evolución del Escudo Nacional.
El alcalde Manuel Jiménez expresó que el esplender que exhibió el Faro cuando se inauguró el 12 de octubre de 1992 sólo duró tres días, quedando en un estado de olvido y abandono.
“Cuando llegamos a la Alcaldía el abandono era total, pues era un bosque de maleza que no se veía, es decir que no estamos hablando de algo sencillo de resolver, pues esta reunión es para agradecer lo que hemos hecho en conjunto e ir poco a poco devolviéndole el esplendor que un día tuvo”, precisó Jiménez.
Dijo que la meta es que lo que se consiga quede como un legado de este gobierno, tras indicar que el proceso de remozamiento que se ha comenzado es una meta que no se va a detener.
“De alguna manera, todos los que estamos aquí somos co-responsables de conseguir que ese esplendor vuelva para beneficio de la ciudad, el turismo y para decirle al mundo que aquí hay un gobierno que vino a recuperar un país perdido”, dijo Jiménez.
Mientras que el gobernador del Faro a Colón, Eliezer Nolasco, señaló que está trabajando día y noche para que el monumento pueda ser transformado.
“Nuestro trabajo de recuperación tendrá un antes y un después, uno de los museos más grande del mundo, el más imponente y de los más importantes”, destacó Nolasco.
No obstante, expresó que con la ayuda del presidente Luis Abinader, los empresarios del municipio y la ministra Milagros Germán, serán iluminadas las áreas de tan importante e histórico monumento.
De su lado, Juan Pablo Uribe, presidente de la Comisión de Efemérides Patrias, al hacer la donación de un busto de Duarte, una obra con la evolución del Escudo Nacional y las banderas que ondean frente al Faro a Colón, destacó que la institución que preside mantendrá una donación permanente de todas las banderas que necesite la emblemática obra.
Asimismo, la gobernadora de la provincia de Santo Domingo Julia Grullard, expresó su gratitud al presidente Luis Abinader y al alcalde Manuel Jiménez, por el trabajo que han hecho para que finalmente el Faro a Colón sea iluminado para beneficio de los dominicanos y los turistas que visitan el municipio.
