En un día histórico para la República Dominicana, el Ayuntamiento de Santo Domingo Este ha dejado una estampa imborrable en la lucha por la igualdad de género. Este miércoles, se convirtió en el primer gobierno local del país y el segundo en el mundo en obtener el prestigioso Sello de Igualdad de Género, otorgado por el Programa de Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo (PNUD). Y detrás de este gran logro, ha habido una figura destacada que ha demostrado eficiencia y un profundo compromiso hacia las mujeres: la vice alcaldesa Ángela Henríquez.
Ángela Henríquez ha sido una pieza clave en este camino hacia la igualdad. Su pasión y dedicación han impulsado una serie de acciones que han marcado una diferencia real en la inclusión y los derechos de la mujer. Gracias a su liderazgo, el Ayuntamiento de Santo Domingo Este ha alcanzado un hito significativo con la integración del 48% de mujeres en cargos directivos y la inclusión de estas en espacios laborales que antes estaban reservados solo para hombres. Su empeño por promover una comunicación inclusiva, la capacitación y sensibilización del personal, y otras medidas de empoderamiento, han convertido al Ayuntamiento de Santo Domingo Este en un referente a nivel nacional e internacional.
El acierto del alcalde Manuel Jiménez al elegir a la vice alcaldesa Ángela Henríquez para esa encomienda ha sido fundamental para alcanzar este reconocimiento. Su compromiso y eficiencia en la coordinación de las acciones necesarias para obtener el Sello de Igualdad han sido excepcionales.
