Mujeres olvidadas por la patria

Mientras   caminaba por el parque independencia recordé la primera practica que recibí como guía de turismo y en ese momento no pude evitar que mis pies se dirigieran al cementerio de la independencia y me para frente al busto de María Trinidad Sánchez.

Ese lugar emblemático donde ella fue fusilada el 27 de febrero de 1845,  me causo dolor y una importancia terrible, ya que en ese momento me vino a la mente que en esa primera práctica, también  visitamos    el Panteón Nacional  y que justo en ese lugar de honor estaba los restos de aquel abusador llamado Pedro Santana, quien asesinó vilmente a esa insigne patriota.

Ese día nos paramos brevemente frente a una modesta vivienda ubicada en la Arzobispo Nouel número 155 y el profesor nos informó que en ese lugar se fundó la sociedad secreta Trinitaria. En su explicación describió a cada uno de los firmantes. Solo mencionó hombres y cuando le pregunté de quien era esa casa, me dijo que era de  Doña Josefa Pérez de la Paz, madre de un trinitario llamado Juan Isidro Pérez.

Esa mañana me di cuenta que en nuestro país no se le da el verdadero valor histórico a las mujeres.

En el Panteón Nacional escuche a un guía turístico hablar de Sánchez cuando  levantó la bandera dominicana por primera vez, pero se le olvidó mencionar que nuestra enseña tricolor fue  diseñada por una joven de 19 años, llamada Concepción Bona  y que junto a ella, también trabajaron en hacer la bandera más bella del mundo otras mujeres, entre las cuales estaban María Trinidad Sánchez , Isabel Sosa y María de Jesús Pina

Entre las valientes mujeres que hicieron esta patria hay damas de acción como Ana Valverde, Rosa Duarte, Petronila Duarte, Froilana Feble y Altagracia Abreu, quienes se encargaban de fabricar cartuchos y balas  que fueron usados en la independencia.

A pesar de la discriminación contra las mujeres e ignorar su rol histórico, hay la esperanza de más temprano que tarde el género femenino será quien tome las decisiones en este país, porque en la actualidad los varones jóvenes están apostando dentro de una banca, mientras que las aulas universitarias están llenas de chicas que buscan un mejor futuro para ellas y su familia
