Alcalde Dío Astacio desata polémica al tapar busto de Peña Gómez

Un puñado de ciudadanos que asistían este jueves al ayuntamiento y dos empleados, desafiaron a la administración municipal de Dío Astacio al apartar el enorme letrero que deliberadamente tapaba el busto de Peña Gómez. El alcalde de Santo Domingo Este, en un acto reprochable y de desconsideración hacia la militancia del PRM, agredió con un cartel de propaganda el Busto de Peña Gómez. Este monumento, erigido en la entrada de la Alcaldía en honor al líder político, fue tapado por un cartel de propaganda, demostrando una completa falta de sensibilidad y respeto por la historia y los valores de la comunidad.

Este acto  no solo agravia a la familia del extinto líder, sino también a la militancia del partido de gobierno y a todos los dominicanos. Peña Gómez, un reconocido líder dominicano respetado en Europa y América, fue desconsiderado por un administrador municipal que no reconoce la grandeza de este personaje, que no solo es un patrimonio de su partido, sino de todos los dominicanos.

El Busto de Peña Gómez, erigido durante la gestión anterior de Manuel Jiménez, quien destacó el nombre del palacio municipal al poner el busto en la entrada del ayuntamiento, donde todos los ciudadanos que acuden a buscar un servicio puedan ver al más grande defensor de la municipalidad del siglo XX.

Astacio es reincidente en su acto de agresión a las figuras históricas. Se recuerda que en la campaña electoral tapó un mural de los padres de la patria cerca del puente Duarte con propaganda política. A los dos días de juramentarse como alcalde, puso una valla de propaganda en el área verde de la Avenida Ecológica Profesor Juan Bosch, y ahora recibió el mes de mayo con una agresión al busto de Peña Gómez en el palacio municipal.
